From sardine port to seaside retreat.
During the 19th and early 20th centuries, Port-Manec'h was home to many sardine boats. The harbour wall built in 1907 helped shelter this activity.
From 1906 onwards, early summer visitors discovered the village. Julia Guillou, the celebrated Pont-Aven hotelier closely linked to the artistic community, opened an establishment near the lighthouse.
